The Cherry Hill Food and Outreach Council (from which the Cherry Hill Food Pantry was formed) began in May, 2006. At a series of afternoon meetings interested congregants from area churches came together to discuss how they as a team, rather than as individual congregations, could best address one or more social issues facing the Cherry Hill community. The issue of hunger, or food insecurity, was a natural focus. Many individuals, families and seniors struggle to meet their bills. When faced with an unexpected expense, or worse, the loss of income, these individuals often turn to churches in the area for assistance with food, bills, and access to social services.
The Cherry Hill congregations that form the foundation of the Cherry Hill Food Pantry work together to provide food and volunteers to staff the pantry on a rotating basis.
Over 450 familes utilize the services of the Cherry Hill Food Pantry every month.
The Cherry Hill Police PBA #176 visited the Cherry Hill Food Pantry recently to deliver a donation of more than $2,000 and 70 bags of nonperishable food items that will help make this holiday season a little brighter for needy families in our community!
